Brotato Endless mode: how it works, and wave 20 or Endless?

Yes, Brotato has an Endless mode, and you can choose it when you pick your Danger level or just before the wave 20 boss. The run keeps going until you die. Get past wave 20 and it still counts as a win, so you don't lose your unlock by going on.
Does Endless still count as a win?
Yes, once the final wave's bosses are dead. A patch in 2024 also added a button in the pause menu to end the run, and ending it after those bosses counts as a win as well.
One difference on wave 20 itself: it still lasts 90 seconds, but killing the bosses doesn't end the wave early.
What changes after wave 20

Enemies also keep getting stronger as an Endless Factor climbs, and it gets out of hand quickly. That's the point of the mode. You aren't meant to survive forever, only longer than last time.
Characters with reduced material drops feel this the most, since their chance can fall as low as 25%. Crown and Farmer's Harvesting growth also stop helping after wave 20.
Wave 20 or Endless?
- Trying to unlock something? You lose nothing by going on, because the win counts once the bosses are dead. Finish the wave 20 bosses first, and then see how far you get.
- Going for a high score? Turn Endless on when you pick your Danger, and plan for it from the start. Harvesting and other income pay off less the longer you plan to go.

Banned items can show up again after wave 20, and the Retry Wave option works on Endless waves too.
Which characters are best for Endless?
We don't have tested Endless rankings, so we won't name a winner. As a rule, look for damage that doesn't depend on income, because money dries up after wave 20. Compare builds here, and if you've pushed far, tell other players how in the forum.
