Baby guide — how to play Baby in Brotato
Updated 2026-11-01 · for v1.1 + Paws & Claws
Starts with one weapon slot and grows a new one on every level-up instead of a stat. Our tier list puts Baby in B tier: XP stat gains. Strong late, fragile early.
The stat line
- +12 Harvesting
- -20% Items Price
- You gain a weapon slot when you level up instead of a stat upgrade (max: 24)
- You start with one weapon slot
- Shops always sell at least one weapon
- +130% XP required to level up
Unlock: Reach level 10 before wave 6. Winning a run unlocks Celery Tea.
How the run plays
Baby trades level-up stats for weapon slots, up to a comical 24. Early waves are about surviving with one or two weapons while the shop discount (-20% item price) and +12 Harvesting build an economy. From wave 8 on, you fill slots with cheap Tier I–II weapons of one class and let the set bonus do the scaling.
Weapons
Baby fits the Primitive or Blade classes best. Start with Sharp Tooth, Quarterstaff, Stick, Rock, Slingshot and hold six weapons of one class for the set bonus; the weapons list shows everything in the Primitive class with per-tier damage.
What to buy, what to skip
Max HP and Armor from the shop since level-ups give none; weapons at Tier I–II in bulk.
The shop favours XP Gain items for Baby, so expect to see these often: Scar, Celery Tea, Black Belt, Peacock, Bean Teacher, Barnacle, Diploma.
The mistake that ends runs
Buying expensive weapons early; slots arrive faster than you can afford to fill them, so cheap volume wins.
