Beast Master guide — how to play Beast Master in Brotato
Updated 2026-11-01 · for v1.1 + Paws & Claws
No weapons at all — a team of pets fights for you. Our tier list puts Beast Master in B tier: Pet-only play. Viable and fun, not yet as consistent as weapon builds.
The stat line
- You can't equip weapons
- +2% Speed for every permanent 1 Pet you have
- Pet damage also scales with Melee Damage, Ranged Damage, Elemental Damage, and Engineering
Beast Master comes with the Paws & Claws update. Unlock: Unlock the Catling Gun, Bonk Dog, Bot-O-Mine, Blazemander and Lootworm items. Winning a run unlocks Scapegoat.
How the run plays
You cannot equip weapons, so every weapon slot's budget goes into pets, which scale with melee, ranged, elemental and engineering damage all at once. +2% Speed per permanent pet keeps you mobile while the pack works. It is a positioning character: you kite, the pets kill.
Weapons
Beast Master cannot equip weapons; see the pets list instead.
What to buy, what to skip
Every pet you see, then Engineering and Max HP. Speed items are already covered by the passive.
The shop has no favoured tags for this character.
The mistake that ends runs
Treating it like a weapon build and buying a single damage stat; pets want a spread, and Max HP keeps the handler alive.
