Curious guide — how to play Curious in Brotato
Updated 2026-11-01 · for v1.1 + Paws & Claws
Loot aliens are the economy, and item variety is XP. Our tier list puts Curious in B tier: Item variety into XP. Builds are deliberately scattered.
The stat line
- You start with 1 Spyglass
- 2 additional loot aliens appear every wave
- All future loot aliens become stronger when you kill a loot alien
- +2% XP Gain for every different Item you have
- -10% Damage for every duplicate item or weapon you have
- +25% Enemy health
Curious comes with the Abyssal Terrors DLC. Unlock: Unlocked by default. Winning a run unlocks Pearl.
How the run plays
Two extra loot aliens each wave and +2% XP Gain per different item you own reward buying many cheap, different items rather than stacking one. The Spyglass start helps you find the aliens. Each alien you kill makes future ones tougher, so the character grows a mini-boss economy over the run.
Weapons
Curious fits the Gun class best. Start with Pistol, Double Barrel Shotgun and hold six weapons of one class for the set bonus; the weapons list shows everything in the Gun class with per-tier damage.
What to buy, what to skip
Many different Tier I–II items, Luck, then one damage stat.
The shop favours Luck items for Curious, so expect to see these often: Bag, Baby Elephant, Lost Duck, Propeller Hat, Cyberball, Treasure Map, Metal Detector, Spicy Sauce.
The mistake that ends runs
Stacking copies of a strong item; the XP bonus counts distinct items.
