Explorer guide — how to play Explorer in Brotato
Updated 2026-11-01 · for v1.1 + Paws & Claws
A bigger map, faster feet, and materials from wandering. Our tier list puts Explorer in A tier: Bigger map plus materials from exploration. Safe, rich, slightly slow.
The stat line
- More trees spawn
- You start with 1 Lumberjack Shirt
- +10% Speed
- +50% pickup range
- +33% Map Size
- +25% Enemies
- -50% materials dropped from enemies
- +10% Enemy Speed
- -40% Damage
Unlock: Kill 50 trees. Winning a run unlocks Compass.
How the run plays
+33% map size, +25% enemies, +10% speed and +50% pickup range make the Explorer a kiting economy character: the extra trees and the big arena are the income. Materials from enemies are halved, so trees and pickups matter more than kills. Keep moving and the run funds itself.
Weapons
Explorer fits the Gun or Precise classes best. Start with Thief Dagger, Crossbow, Shredder and hold six weapons of one class for the set bonus; the weapons list shows everything in the Gun class with per-tier damage.
What to buy, what to skip
Speed, Pickup Range, Harvesting, then ranged weapons. Tree items.
The shop favours Speed, Exploration, Consumable items for Explorer, so expect to see these often: Bag, Lemonade, Lumberjack Shirt, Terrified Onion, Tree, Beanie, Weird Food, Compass.
The mistake that ends runs
Fighting in the middle; the map is there to be used.
Co-op partners
- Loud — More enemies means more drops, and the economy character turns the extra materials into shops for the whole team.
- Builder — An economy partner keeps materials dropping while the builder leaves them on the ground.
- Multitasker — The shared economy pays for a character whose shops are unusually expensive.
