Gladiator guide — how to play Gladiator in Brotato

Updated 2026-11-01 · for v1.1 + Paws & Claws

More different weapons, more attack speed — six different melee weapons is the goal. Our tier list puts Gladiator in B tier: Melee combos with attack speed. Strong once six weapons are online.

The stat line

  • +20% Attack Speed for every different weapon you have
  • +5 Melee Damage
  • You can't equip ranged weapons
  • -40% Attack Speed
  • -30 Luck

Unlock: Kill 20000 enemies. Winning a run unlocks Spider.

How the run plays

+20% Attack Speed per different weapon, -40% base, no ranged weapons and -30 Luck make the Gladiator a melee collector: six distinct melee weapons means +80% net attack speed. Set bonuses are weaker with variety, so pick classes with overlapping tags (Blade + Medieval).

Weapons

Gladiator fits the Blade or Medieval classes best. Start with Jousting Lance, Quarterstaff and hold six weapons of one class for the set bonus; the weapons list shows everything in the Blade class with per-tier damage.

What to buy, what to skip

Six different melee weapons, Melee Damage, Max HP. Luck items to offset -30.

The shop favours Melee Damage items for Gladiator, so expect to see these often: Boxing Glove, Charcoal, Claw Tree, Defective Steroids, Goat Skull, Hedgehog, Riposte, Black Belt.

The mistake that ends runs

Merging duplicates; two of the same weapon is one 'different' weapon.
