Hunter guide — how to play Hunter in Brotato
Updated 2026-11-01 · for v1.1 + Paws & Claws
Range is damage, crit scales harder, and harvesting is off the table. Our tier list puts Hunter in A tier: Range and crit on precise weapons. Kites well, dies rarely.
The stat line
- +100 Range
- +1% Damage for every 10 Range you have
- Crit Chance modifications are increased by 25%
- Harvesting modifications are reduced by 100%
- Max HP modifications are reduced by 33%
Unlock: Reach +300 Range. Winning a run unlocks Sniper Gun.
How the run plays
+100 Range and +1% Damage per 10 Range make Range items into damage items; Crit Chance modifications are increased by 25%. Harvesting is reduced by 100%, so the economy is kills and luck only. Snipers and crossbows are the natural rack.
Weapons
Hunter fits the Precise or Gun classes best. Start with Thief Dagger, Claw, Scissors, Shuriken, Double Barrel Shotgun, Crossbow and hold six weapons of one class for the set bonus; the weapons list shows everything in the Precise class with per-tier damage.
What to buy, what to skip
Range, Crit Chance, Ranged Damage, Luck for the economy.
The shop favours Range, Crit Chance items for Hunter, so expect to see these often: Baby Gecko, Claw Tree, Glasses, Insanity, Gummy Berserker, Spyglass, Tentacle, Blindfold.
The mistake that ends runs
Buying Harvesting out of habit; it is nullified.
