Ogre guide — how to play Ogre in Brotato

Updated 2026-11-01 · for v1.1 + Paws & Claws

Overkill explosions; heavy melee weapons with huge single hits. Our tier list puts Ogre in B tier: Overkill explosions. Strong with heavy weapons, dies to chip.

The stat line

  • Enemies taking double their max health as damage explode for 10 (+50% Max HP -50% Attack Speed) damage
  • +10 Melee Damage
  • You can't equip ranged weapons
  • -50% Attack Speed
  • -10% Speed

Ogre comes with the Abyssal Terrors DLC. Unlock: Deal 1000 damage to an enemy in a single hit. Winning a run unlocks Mace.

How the run plays

Enemies that take double their max health in one hit explode for Max-HP-scaled damage, and +10 Melee Damage helps you overkill. No ranged weapons and halved attack speed modifications push you to slow, massive hits: Hammer, Mace, Heavy weapons. Max HP scales the explosions.

Weapons

Ogre fits the Heavy or Blunt classes best. Start with Brick, Rock, Cacti Club, Spoon and hold six weapons of one class for the set bonus; the weapons list shows everything in the Heavy class with per-tier damage.

What to buy, what to skip

Melee Damage, Max HP, Heavy/Blunt weapons, Explosion items.

The shop favours Max HP, Melee Damage, Explosive (Item Tag) items for Ogre, so expect to see these often: Weird Ghost, Alien Worm, Cake, Jelly, Boxing Glove, Charcoal, Claw Tree, Defective Steroids.

The mistake that ends runs

Fast weapons; they never overkill and the attack speed penalty wastes them.

Co-op partners

  • Loud — Loud's extra enemies chain through Ogre's overkill explosions. The waves delete themselves once damage is online.
