Old guide — how to play Old in Brotato

Updated 2026-11-01 · for v1.1 + Paws & Claws

A smaller, slower arena where turrets reach everything. Our tier list puts Old in B tier: Small map and slow enemies help turrets. Capped by the one-weapon-per-slot limits.

The stat line

  • -25% Enemy speed
  • +10 Harvesting
  • -33%Map Size
  • -10% Enemies
  • -10% Speed

Unlock: Kill 300 enemies. Winning a run unlocks Snail.

How the run plays

-33% map size, -25% enemy speed and -10% enemies make the arena a kill box; -10% Speed hurts less when enemies are slower. Structures cover the whole map, so Engineering is the natural scaling. +10 Harvesting pays for the turrets.

Weapons

Old fits the Tool or Gun classes best. Start with Screwdriver, Wrench, Double Barrel Shotgun, Revolver and hold six weapons of one class for the set bonus; the weapons list shows everything in the Tool class with per-tier damage.

What to buy, what to skip

Engineering, structures, Armor, Max HP.

The shop favours Less Enemies, Less Enemy Speed items for Old, so expect to see these often: Ugly Tooth, Snail, White Flag, Candle.

The mistake that ends runs

Dodge-and-kite builds; there is no room to kite.

Co-op partners

  • Engineer — Old shrinks the map and slows enemies. Engineer's turrets then reach everything and fire for longer. The classic turret lockdown.
  • Technomage — A smaller arena keeps turrets in range of everything.
  • Builder — A smaller arena keeps turrets in range of everything.
