Sailor guide — how to play Sailor in Brotato

Updated 2026-11-01 · for v1.1 + Paws & Claws

Naval weapons deal triple to cursed enemies; needs curse from somewhere. Our tier list puts Sailor in A tier: Naval set bonuses plus curse pay-offs. Strong with Abyssal items.

The stat line

  • +200% damage with Naval weapons against cursed enemies
  • +25 Curse
  • -25% Damage
  • You can only equip tier II weapons or above
  • Dodge is capped at 20%
  • Harvesting modifications are reduced by 100%

Sailor comes with the Abyssal Terrors DLC. Unlock: Unlocked by default. Winning a run unlocks Treasure Map.

How the run plays

+200% damage with Naval weapons against cursed enemies and +25 Curse to start; dodge is capped at 20% and harvesting is weakened, so armour and HP carry survival. The best partner is a Creature or anyone stacking Curse. Tier II+ weapons only, so the rack costs more early.

Weapons

Sailor fits the Naval class best. Start with Anchor, Trident, Blunderbuss and hold six weapons of one class for the set bonus; the weapons list shows everything in the Naval class with per-tier damage.

What to buy, what to skip

Naval weapons, Curse items, Armor, Max HP. Abyssal Terrors only.

The shop favours Curse items for Sailor, so expect to see these often: Corrupted Shard, Fish Hook, Black Flag, Barnacle, Kraken's Eye.

The mistake that ends runs

Spending on Dodge; it caps at 20%.

Co-op partners

  • Creature — Creature's curse keeps the arena full of cursed enemies. Sailor's naval weapons punish exactly those.
  • Lich — One player curses the wave, the other deals bonus damage to cursed enemies.
