Ethereal weapons guide — set bonus, every weapon, who should build it

Updated 2026-11-01 · for v1.1 + Paws & Claws

Dodge from the set, Armor taken away; a glass build that is excellent on exactly one character. 4 weapons carry the Ethereal tag; the set bonus below applies for every Ethereal weapon you hold at once, duplicates included.

Set bonus

Weapons held Bonus
2 +6% Dodge Chance -1 Armor
3 +12% Dodge Chance -2 Armor
4 +18% Dodge Chance -3 Armor
5 +24% Dodge Chance -4 Armor
6 +30% Dodge Chance -5 Armor

How a Ethereal build plays

Four Ethereal weapons exist — three Ghost weapons at Tier I plus the Legendary Scythe — and the set gives up to +30% Dodge while removing 5 Armor. Ghost Scepter reaches 300, Ghost Axe hits for 12; the class is mid-damage and relies on the dodge to survive. Ghost has no Armor to lose and a 90% cap, so six Ethereal is the natural rack there. On anyone else, four Ethereal plus two off-class is the realistic ceiling.

Every Ethereal weapon

Numbers are the lowest tier the weapon exists at; open a weapon for all four tiers and its scaling.

Weapon Tiers Damage Cooldown DPS Crit Range Also
Ghost Scepter 1–4 10 0.98s 10.2 3% 300 –
Ghost Axe 1–4 12 1.73s 6.9 3% 200 –
Ghost Flint 1–4 6 1.23s 4.9 3% 170 –
Scythe 4 150 0.72s 208.3 3% 250 Legendary

The core of a six-of set is usually Ghost Scepter, Ghost Axe, Ghost Flint, Scythe; the rest fill in as the shop offers them.

Characters that fit the class

  • Creature — Weapons scale with Curse, and the whole run bends around cursed enemies.
  • Ghost — Ninety percent dodge is possible — and armor is gone forever.
  • Lich — Healing is an attack; regen and life steal fire a shot every time they trigger.

Overlapping classes

Ethereal weapons also count as Legendary, so a Ethereal rack can trigger a second set bonus without an extra slot. The weapons list filters by class.

The mistake that ends runs

Mixing Ethereal into an Armor build; the set bonus actively removes the stat you are stacking.

See the set bonus ranking for how Ethereal compares with the other sixteen classes, or test a rack in the build planner.
