Golem guide — how to play Golem in Brotato

Updated 2026-11-01 · for v1.1 + Paws & Claws

Armor and Max HP scale a third harder, and it never heals — on purpose. Our tier list puts Golem in S tier: Max HP and Armor scale 33% harder. With armor-scaling weapons it stops taking meaningful damage and the no-healing clause rarely matters.

The stat line

  • +20 Max HP
  • Max HP modifications are increased by 33%
  • Armor modifications are increased by 33%
  • +40% Attack Speed when you have less than 50% health
  • +20% Speed when you have less than 50% health
  • You can't heal in any way

Unlock: Finish a wave with 1 HP. Winning a run unlocks Stone Skin.

How the run plays

+33% on Max HP and Armor modifications and a ban on healing make the Golem a slab: each hit matters forever, so armor is the real health bar. Below 50% health you gain +40% Attack Speed and +20% Speed, which means playing wounded is the power mode. Armor-scaling weapons like the Spiky Shield turn defence into offence.

Weapons

Golem fits the Medieval or Heavy classes best. Start with Cacti Club, Spiky Shield, Crossbow and hold six weapons of one class for the set bonus; the weapons list shows everything in the Medieval class with per-tier damage.

What to buy, what to skip

Armor, Max HP, Spiky Shields. Skip every healing item.

The shop favours Max HP, Armor items for Golem, so expect to see these often: Weird Ghost, Alien Worm, Cake, Helmet, Jelly, Defective Steroids, Duct Tape, Broken Mouth.

The mistake that ends runs

Buying regen or life steal items; they do nothing. And greedy positioning early, before armor is up.
