Medieval weapons guide — set bonus, every weapon, who should build it
Updated 2026-11-01 · for v1.1 + Paws & Claws
Armor and Dodge from the set; the knight's class, and the best defensive bonus in the game. 8 weapons carry the Medieval tag; the set bonus below applies for every Medieval weapon you hold at once, duplicates included.
Set bonus
| Weapons held | Bonus |
|---|---|
| 2 | +1 Armor |
| 3 | +1 Armor, +3% Dodge |
| 4 | +2 Armor, +3% Dodge |
| 5 | +2 Armor, +6% Dodge |
| 6 | +3 Armor, +6% Dodge |
How a Medieval build plays
Medieval weapons are melee and shields plus the Crossbow, with Sword and Vorpal Sword as the damage core and Spiky Shield as the Armor-scaling oddity. The set gives up to +3 Armor and +6% Dodge, both halves of which matter on a melee character that stands in the crowd. Knight turns the Armor into Melee Damage and Golem multiplies it, which is why both default to this class. Scale Melee Damage and Armor; the class has low crit except the Crossbow.
Every Medieval weapon
Numbers are the lowest tier the weapon exists at; open a weapon for all four tiers and its scaling.
| Weapon | Tiers | Damage | Cooldown | DPS | Crit | Range | Also |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jousting Lance | 1–4 | 20 | 1.58s | 12.7 | 3% | 250 | – |
| Crossbow | 1–4 | 10 | 1.13s | 8.8 | 30% | 350 | Precise |
| Spiky Shield | 1–4 | 10 | 1.16s | 8.6 | 3% | 150 | Blunt |
| Quarterstaff | 1–4 | 10 | 1.42s | 7 | 3% | 175 | Primitive |
| Mace | 2–4 | 40 | 1.39s | 28.7 | – | 150 | Heavy (DLC) |
| Sword | 2–4 | 30 | 1.28s | 23.4 | 3% | 200 | Blade |
| Trident | 2–4 | 30 | 1.58s | 19 | – | 325 | Naval (DLC) |
| Vorpal Sword | 2–4 | 20 | 1.11s | 18 | 3% | 200 | Blade |
The core of a six-of set is usually Sword, Vorpal Sword, Spiky Shield, Mace, Crossbow, Jousting Lance; the rest fill in as the shop offers them.
Characters that fit the class
- Gladiator — More different weapons, more attack speed — six different melee weapons is the goal.
- Golem — Armor and Max HP scale a third harder, and it never heals — on purpose.
- Knight — Armor is melee damage; buys only tier II and above.
- Vagabond — Every weapon counts for every other weapon's class bonus; no duplicates allowed.
Overlapping classes
Medieval weapons also count as Precise, Blunt, Primitive, Heavy, Blade, Naval, so a Medieval rack can trigger a second set bonus without an extra slot. The weapons list filters by class.
The mistake that ends runs
Ignoring the Spiky Shield because its damage reads 10. It scales with Armor, which the set and the character are already stacking.
See the set bonus ranking for how Medieval compares with the other sixteen classes, or test a rack in the build planner.
