Gun weapons guide — set bonus, every weapon, who should build it
Updated 2026-11-01 · for v1.1 + Paws & Claws
The deepest class in the game — fourteen weapons, something for every budget, and Range from the set. 14 weapons carry the Gun tag; the set bonus below applies for every Gun weapon you hold at once, duplicates included.
Set bonus
| Weapons held | Bonus |
|---|---|
| 2 | +10 Range |
| 3 | +20 Range |
| 4 | +30 Range |
| 5 | +40 Range |
| 6 | +50 Range |
How a Gun build plays
Guns range from the SMG (3 damage every 0.17 seconds) to the Obliterator (250 damage every 3 seconds), all scaling with Ranged Damage. Pistol and Revolver are the early picks because they are cheap and common; Sniper Gun adds crit and 800 range; Minigun is Heavy for the Damage bonus too. The set bonus is up to +50 Range, which is survivability on a kiting build and damage on Hunter. Scale Ranged Damage, then Attack Speed for the fast guns or Crit for Sniper and Pistol.

Characters that fit the class
- Arms Dealer — Weapons cost almost nothing, so the Arms Dealer buys six Tier IVs before anyone else has three.
- Buccaneer — Materials are worth double and every pickup resets your weapon cooldowns.
- Captain — Empty weapon slots are XP, and level-ups are worth double.
- Curious — Loot aliens are the economy, and item variety is XP.
- Cyborg — Ranged damage triples as a modifier and flips into engineering mid-wave.
- Entrepreneur — Cheaper items, harvesting that scales 50% harder, and materials that are damage.
- Explorer — A bigger map, faster feet, and materials from wandering.
- Fisherman — Bait spawns special enemies and pays harvesting per bait held.
- Gangster — Steal one item per shop; the price is an elite that may follow you in.
- Generalist — Melee feeds ranged and ranged feeds melee; three of each, always.
- Hiker — Steps are money and steps are health; never stop walking.
- Hunter — Range is damage, crit scales harder, and harvesting is off the table.
- Jack — Fewer enemies, but elites and bosses are the whole game — and the whole payout.
- King — Tier IV items and weapons each add stats; a mid-game spike that wins Danger 5.
- Lucky — Luck is damage, drops and rarity at once.
- Mutant — Levels come three times faster; items cost half again as much.
- Old — A smaller, slower arena where turrets reach everything.
- One Armed — One weapon only, at triple attack speed with doubled damage modifiers.
- Ranger — Ranged damage scales 50% harder; the safest learning character.
- Renegade — Extra projectiles and pierce, with Tier I items as damage.
- Saver — Materials in the bank are damage; prices are higher.
- Soldier — Stand still to hit hard; move to reposition, never to fight.
- Streamer — Materials tick in while standing still; damage and speed come while moving.
- Vagabond — Every weapon counts for every other weapon's class bonus; no duplicates allowed.
- Well Rounded — No gimmick, no weakness; learn the game here.
- Wounded — Dies in one hit. A challenge run, not a build.
Overlapping classes
Gun weapons also count as Medical, Heavy, Explosive, Naval, Precise, Legendary, so a Gun rack can trigger a second set bonus without an extra slot. The weapons list filters by class.
The mistake that ends runs
Running six slow Guns (Laser, Sniper, Obliterator) with no fast one; the horde reaches you between shots.
See the set bonus ranking for how Gun compares with the other sixteen classes, or test a rack in the build planner.
